Welcome to the Oblivion Background Music Project!

Jeremy Soule's soundtrack to Oblivion is wonderful but if you're like me, you've probably grown tired of hearing it after many hundreds of hours of gaming. With that in mind, I set out to create a completely new musical backdrop for adventuring in Tamriel.

The Oblivion Background Music Project does *not* feature:

My main goal with this project was to subtly accent and underscore the gameplay, not to distract from it. I've done some editing and fading and volume normalizing on many of the mp3s, so hopefully all the music will flow together nicely.

The Oblivion Background Music Project also features:

I've long been frustrated by those immersion-shattering music cues that alert you to an enemy presence even if you never saw it coming. OBMP addresses that problem simply by removing the battle music entirely. This brings the fear of uncertainty back to the game so you'll need to be more careful and alert.

Lastly, I didn't like how one piece of music would always feed straight into the next so I added numerous mp3s of pure quiet (one, one-and-a-half, or two minutes in length) to each folder. This gives the music more breathing room, plus it lets you enjoy the background atmospheric sound design.
